texas_houston_culinarytoursHeading toward Houston, Road Trips Foodies? If you want the ultimate insider foodie experience in this Texas town, check out Houston Culinary Tours. Every one of these is different, because each is led by a local chef! Stops include restaurants (of course) but also markets and neighborhoods great for finding local ingredients.

Forget the upscale restaurants—they aren’t the only things setting Houston apart. These tours are all about the small, independent, ethnic restaurants, places where recipes have been passed down from generation to generation.

Four upcoming tours are already sold out, but the following still have space available: “A Taste of Asia” (June 6, 2010), “Southern Comfort” (June 27, 2010), “Grocery Stores and Ethnic Markets” (July 25, 2010) and “Chinatown” (October 10, 2010). Tours are $180 per person, which includes tastings at each stop, complementary Saint Arnold’s beer, limo-bus transportation and gift bag. Proceeds benefit the Houston Food Bank.
