Public Documents in Sanford Family Court Filing

The Sanford v. Sanford divorce file at the Charleston County Courthouse paints the picture of a contentious divorce between former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford and his wife, Jenny.

The unhappy situation came to light this week it was revealed that Jenny Sanford had reported the former governor to Charleston County Family Court on grounds that he trespassed at her beachfront Sullivan's Island home.

The Sanfords head to court in May to resolve the situation, and that's not the first time the couple has turned to a judge to sort out the terms of their divorce. Mark Sanford has responded to the charges.

Court records show at least three occasions since 2010 in which Jenny Sanford petitioned the court to make her husband fully comply.

March 12, 2013: Jenny Sanford reported to the court that Sanford had entered her home on Feb. 3. She came home to find him exiting the rear of the residence using his cell phone as a makeshift flashlight. Read the full court filing.

August 2, 2012: The former governor's ex-wife reported to the court that her husband had broken the terms of their child custody agreement while staying at Coosaw, a family property near Hilton Head Island, S.C. The terms of the divorce order state "that no airplanes will be flown at children." Read the full court filing.

Dec. 6, 2011: Sanford was cited for not paying $5,000 toward one of the couple's four boys' college expenses. Jenny Sanford told reporters the situation has since been resolved. Read the full court filing.

March 18, 2010: The couple's divorce was granted on the grounds of infidelity. The terms of the divorce were sealed since the both parties and the judge agreed that disclosing the couple's finances could harm their chances at finding employment and endanger their children.
