Marineland renamed Marineland Dolphin Adventure

Marineland has a new name: Marineland Dolphin Adventure.

Georgia Aquarium, which purchased the historic attraction in January for a reported $9.1 million, announced the name change and new logo Tuesday. A spokeswoman said nothing else is changing now, but that more announcements will come later.

The two attractions opened Georgia Aquarium's Dolphin Conservation Field Station at Marineland together in 2008, and the Atlanta aquarium plans to open its $110 million dolphin exhibit on April 2.

Marineland, founded in 1938, has specialized in dolphin encounters since it reopened in 2006.
