'Spring Breakers': James Franco, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Emma Roberts In Talks

When Disney Starlets Show Their Dark Side

Pretty confident that this one won't air on the Disney Channel.

Variety reports that Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, two of the last decade's biggest tween starlets, are in talks to join the cast of the dark Harmony Korine film, "Spring Breakers." They would potentially join the also-negotiating James Franco and Emma Roberts in the flick about four college students who rob a restaurant to pay for their spring break trip, and the scamming drugs and arms dealer with whom they get entangled.

Franco is certainly turning toward dark roles, with turns in the upcoming mental illness-themed dramas, "Maladies" and "The Stare," as well as "Cherry," about a porn star who gets entangled with a drug addicted lawyer.

Hudgens is making her first real dark film in "Gimme Shelter," in which she plays a pregnant teen who turns to the streets in search of survival. Pictures of her with short, jet-black hair have cropped up over the past few months as she filmed the project.

As for Roberts, she starred in "It's Kind of A Funny Story," playing a girl undergoing psychotherapy, though the movie was less than dark.
