2236: I hope you enjoyed that. I did. Shakhtar fully deserved that victory, and it continues the resurgence of eastern European football. Question is, how long before one of these teams makes their mark on the Champions League?

2229: Ronaldo Naldo is inconsolable, crying a river of misery out there on the pitch, his emotions laid bare for the world to see. Shakhtar, meanwhile, are going to party like it's 1991 tonight.
2227: Shakhtar Donetsk captain Darijo Srna is the last man up, and he collects the Uefa Cup trophy from Uefa president Michel Platini's face before holding it aloft in Istanbul. Wonderful scenes, and there's even ticker tape. It's like 1978 all over again.
2225: History, right before your eyes. Shakhtar become the first Ukraine side to win a European competition and they will forever be the last winners of the Uefa Cup. They are in Michel Platini's face, collecting their winners' medals, as this magically appears on your screen.
2223: Poor Werder go up and get their losers' medals. Meanwhile, Macca's worried, as well he might be: "Hopefully Shakhtar skipper Darijo Srna has saved some energy for the presentation, as the Uefa Cup is the heaviest of all the Uefa trophies at a mighty 15kg."

SHAKHTAR DONETSK HAVE WON THE UEFA CUP
2214: Full-time Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 Werder Bremen Shakhtar Donetsk have won the last ever Uefa Cup and few could argue that they were not the better of the two teams tonight. It is a victory that the whole of Ukraine will celebrate tonight - the country's first European success since independence in 1991.
2211: Heartbreak for Werder. The ball is in the Shakhtar net after Sebastian Prodl heads goalwards from a long punt into the box, but Claudio Pizarro fouled Dmytro Chygrynskiy and referee Luis Medina Cantalejo gets his last major decision in a major international match spot on. Two minutes of stoppages have begun.
2208: Three minutes remain. Shakhtar lead 2-1, and time is running out for the Germans and their manager Thomas Schaaf.
2206: Alexandros Tziolis is the latest in the book for a pretty reckless challenge on Razvan Rat, who leaps about 20 feet in the air, as if to make his point.
2205: Werder win a corner, but it comes to nothing. Shakhtar have six minutes plus stoppages to hang on and become Uefa Cup winners.
From BBC Sport's James Doe in Istanbul: "I don't think anyone here wanted extra-time. It's getting on for 0005 here, there's a chill in the air and factors of both seem to be sending the more casual fans to the exits and ferries - if there are still any running!"
2202: Whoosh that was close. Alexandros Tziolis, the Greek substitute, lashes in a right-footer from 22 yards that skips a few inches wide of Andriy Pyatov's left-hand post. Shakhtar take on Rodrigues Jadson and bring on Igor Duljaj, who looks like a cross between Attilio Lombardo and Jonny Metgod, according to my colleagues. Probably tells you one thing about him, anyway.
2201: Rodrigues Jadson, who may have just written his name in Uefa Cup folklore, is stretchered off, but he's soon back on after a bit of treatment. Anyone would think he was trying to eat up a few seconds.

2155: Willian is played narrowly onside and from 35 yards he sees Tim Wiese stray off his line, but the Brazilian's lob hits the top of the German keeper's net. Ooooh.
2152: Werder Bremen make their third and last change of the night, with Peter Niemeyer going off and Alexandros Tziolis coming on in his place.

2148: Perpetrator of goalkeeping howler number one makes amends, Andriy Pyatov getting down well at his near post to save a fierce Claudio Pizarro volley. From the corner, Pizarro heads tamely into the arms of the keeper.
2146: GOAL: Goalkeeping howler number two, but it's at the opposite end. Darijo Srna for the umpteenth time gets down the right and sends over a cross to about the penalty spot, where Rodrigues Jadson turns the ball goalwards - Tim Wiese should save it, he really should, but it slips between his gloves and bobbles into the corner.

2145: Werder bring on Petri Pasanen for Clemens Fritz. Oh, and in answer to the comment two posts down - no. That would ruin auto refresh for all of us. Trust me.
2143: Darijo Srna's shot bounces awkwardly just in front of Tim Wiese and the keeper takes no chances, patting the ball away from danger instead of trying to catch it.

2119: Shakhtar's Mariusz Lewandowski is booked for a shirt pull on the halfway line. Meanwhile, Werder bring on Aaron Hunt, and seconds later, Claudio Pizarro's header is pushed away off his line by Andriy Pyatov.
2117: Shakhtar go all Manchester United on us, a corner played straight to Rodrigues Jadson, who volleys at Tim Wiese from 15 yards. Didn't quite catch it, the Brazilian schemer.
BBC Sport's James Doe in Istanbul: "Having wanted to see their own team here tonight, several pockets of Man City fans rise up around the East Stand during a lull in play for a chorus of 'Blue Moon'. Fair play to them."
2114: That Ronaldo Naldo, he seems to be the man standing between Shakhtar and victory at the moment. He's a unit from the same school as Christopher Samba and Papa Bouba Diop, too - you won't get through him in a hurry. "He's like a mini-wardrobe," adds Macca.

2110: This is an outrageous thing for me to say, but it's hard not to want Shakhtar to score - they are playing some gorgeous stuff again, their passing - both short- and long-range - has been almost flawless. Just over halfway through the second half.
2107: Luiz Adriano turns really well inside the Werder box and hammer a left-foot shot goalwards, but Ronaldo Naldo gets in a timely block - top-drawer defending.

2058: Darijo Srna is getting into some dangerous positions down the Shakhtar right and after some great trickery from Ilsinho he whips over a cross that just evades Luiz Adriano. Srna is booked after for some back-chat.
2055: Rodrigues Jadson mis-controls the ball and it falls for Luis Fernandinho to drag a shot wide from 30 yards. Remember that 40-yard screamer he scored in the Champions League before Christmas? Had there not been a net, that ball would still be rising. What a hit. This wasn't.
2054: Rodrigues Jadson goes close for Shakhtar, his curling, arching 25-yard free-kick from a bit to the left of the Werder box forcing a decent save from Tim Wiese.
BBC Sport's James Doe in Istanbul: "With the Werder fans' cover version of 'Football's coming home' still going round my head from half-time, the second half starts. The consensus here is that it's still most definitely anybody's game!"
2051: Shakhtar are most pleasing on the eye at times, they move the ball crisply and get into some very good positions. They're like a poor man's Barcelona - but not that poor, on this evidence. They've started this half better, too.

2026: Wow that's a sensational piece of football. Mariusz Lewandowski lets fly with a first-time rocket shot from 30 yards and Tim Wiese sprawls across his line to make a magnificent, full-length save. Stunning.
2024: Five minutes until half-time, and this one's fairly flown by so far. Andriy Pyatov comes for a cross and gets nowhere near it, but Claudio Pizarro is adjudged to have committed a foul. He's struggling, the Ukraine keeper.
2020: GOAL: And conjure up something a little different they do - but Andriy Pyatov has just suffered the most embarrassing moment of his career. Ronaldo Naldo hammers it in from 30 yards and it's almost straight at Pyatov, but he can only parry it into the top corner of his own net. Heartbreaker for him, parity for Werder. Game on.

2017: Some concern about Luiz Adriano, who fairly thumps into the ground after an aerial challenge with Peter Niemeyer. He needs a bit of treatment, but he might just be OK you know.
2015: Luiz Adriano returns the favour, setting up Willian on the left-hand side of the Werder area, but after cutting inside his right-foot shot lacks power and Tim Wiese picks up with minimum fuss.

2009: This brilliant, brilliant piece of news just in from Germany: Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has promised to buy a holiday in Italy for the players of Werder Bremen if they beat Bayern's German title rivals Wolfsburg on the final day of the season on Saturday. Genius.
2006: More good movement from Shakhtar creates some space for Ilsinho down their right, but his cross is rubbish and sails out for a goalkick. Darijo Srna, meanwhile, requires a little bit of treatment.
2003: Clemens Fritz flicks the ball brilliantly between his legs 30 yards out to create room to shoot, but he probably wishes he hadn't as the effort flies many a mile over Andriy Pyatov's crossbar.

1913: Team news shortly, but this I can tell you now: Werder Bremen's Diego will not play tonight, as he is suspended. It's a blow for the Germans, for the final, for football, and not least for the sublimely-gifted 24-year-old Brazilian, too.
