GYPSIES and travellers have been given permission to permanently occupy a site in Stourport after an initial two-year planning condition was extended.

The site is located in the Sandy Lane industrial estate, at the junction of Sandy Lane and Nelson Road, next to an existing travellers’ site and was given permission in 2011 for a change of use to a caravan park with eight pitches for a temporary two-year period. It had been due to expire this month.

Wyre Forest District Council’s planning committee, at a meeting on Tuesday at Wyre Forest House, approved the removal of the condition to grant permanent permission and heard it was in accord with land allocations set out in the authority’s site allocations and policies local plan.
