UPDATE:

SEGA has now confirmed that the game will be released in North America on September 21, with a UK release following on September 22.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE:

SEGA has super-glued a Japanese release date to its downloadable PS3/360 conversion of Sonic Adventure, confirming the classic platformer will be available on September 29.

Originally released on Dreamcast back in 1999, Sonic Adventure will be available on PlayStation Network for 1,000 yen/800 Microsoft Points, and marks the first in a series of DC titles planned for a digital re-release. Crazy Taxi is expected to be next in line.

Fresh to the PS3/360 release, however, will be an improved frame rate that clocks in at twice the original performance, in addition to support for Trophies, Achievements, Home Reward and Avatars.

SEGA is also planning on offering punters the chance to upgrade their release to the GameCube Sonic Adventure DX release, which features a host of additional content and improved visuals. Japanese gamers can purchase this upgrade for approximately 500 yen/400 MS Points.

No word on a western date yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.
