Jay Z calls up Angie Martinez and has some awesome things so say about her
If it hasn’t sunken in already Angie Martinez’s first show yesterday might have just been the official “now you know it’s real” clarification. Angie shocked a lot of people once she left Hot 97 and hoped over to their biggest competitor for years, Power 105.1. However, everything was done on good terms. For the New York radio legend’s first show yesterday she had none other than Jay Z call up and speak to her for a few minutes. Now that’s how you kick off a show.
Most people know that Jay and Angie go way back. They’ve been friends for a long time and Hov had some really great things to say about her via the Hamptons. When Angie pointed out that the call was breaking up Jay explained why,
“I’m on the pond, I’ll send you a picture. It’s fantastic,” Jay teased.
Along with voicing his strong support for Angie Hov insisted that she have no guest come up to Power 105.1 until he makes a visit first. Here’s what Jay had to say about Ange:
“I really believe that what you are about to accomplish in the next phase of your life will dwarf everything that you’ve ever done. Because, that’s what people who are great do. You’re not termed ‘the voice of New York’ for no reason. You’re an institution in radio. That’s a pretty special feat to accomplish.”
