It appears the famous foodie has ‘no reservations’ about trying something new! (We’re sorry for that one.)

Anthony Bourdain has been a downtown chef, a bad boy author, a garrulous television personality and a crime novelist on the side, but now he’s branching out even further with the forthcoming publication of a graphic novel. Get Gyro, Bourdain says, will tell the story of “ultraviolent food nerds.” He describes the comic as “a gourmet slaughterfest, sort of like Fistful of Dollars meets Eat Drink Man Woman.”

Bourdain burst into mainstream consciousness with the nonfiction Kitchen Confidential, a behind-the-scenes look at the crazed and chaotic New York restaurant scene. He has since authored a collection of essays, a second memoir and three crime novels and hosted the Travel Channel series No Reservations. Get Gyro, to be published by DC Comics, will be his first foray into graphic novels — and is yet another sign that both food culture and comic book culture, formerly obscure niches, are settling comfortably into the American mainstream.

Little else is known about the project, so NewsFeed will speculate with The Official Checklist Of Things That Should Be In Anthony Bourdain’s Graphic Novel:

[ ] Someone poking someone else’s eye out with a chopstick

[ ] Hand-to-hand fights against sharks, which the heroes then ferment and eat

[ ] Copious close-ups of knives

[ ] An octopus rampaging through a fancy restaurant

[ ] A dramatic seasoning battle

[ ] A deus ex machina caused by the heavenly power of street food

[ ] A tough-talking hero named ‘Antonio Fortane’

[ ] Lots of cursing
