Duke Nukem Forever in February 2011, says retailers

Retail giants Amazon and GameStop have pinned a February 1, 2011 release date to Gearbox Software’s hotly anticipated Duke Nukem Forever.

While it isn’t exactly uncommon for online listings to serve up placeholders in regards to forthcoming game releases, it’s worth pointing out that the official Duke Nukem Forever site links specifically to both Amazon and GameStop’s pre-order page for the title.

Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford also let slip recently that development of the long-delayed shooter has wrapped, with the game now in the stage of being “polished” for a 2011 release.

As it stands, the company has yet to announce an official launch date for the project, though we’ll be sure to keep you posted. Fingers crossed we’ll get it sooner rather than later – it’s been a long enough wait.
