That Guy's An Adult and I'm Just A Kid (When Life Isn't Fair)
I played Little League baseball when I was growing up. I was a little scrawny pip-squeak of a guy (still am). I can remember getting into the batter's box against what seemed like grown men on the mound - sideburns, hair on their chest, etc. One such "man" was a pitcher who used to practically fall off the mound while throwing sidearm. The ball would come in wickedly fast and it felt like it was coming right for your head, but then it would turn and go over the plate. It was two strikes before I blinked.
And I guess I could have just stepped out of the batter's box and told the ump, "This isn't fair. That guy's an adult and I'm just a kid." And then I could have run over and told the team manager, "This isn't fair. That guy's an adult and I'm just a kid." And then I could have peered through the wire fence at my dad sitting in the stands and said, "This isn't fair. That guy's an adult and I'm just a kid." The point I'm trying to make here is that there are a whole lot of people in the world who run around telling everybody just how unfair life is to them. And the truth is life is unfair. Whatever got you to think otherwise (if you're one of the complainers)? Now get back in the batter's box. You've still got one more strike.
