Selway talks about the impetus behind the solo project, his under-the-radar writing process, the source of the title, and how working with a new set of musicians on Familial differed from working with his longtime bandmates in Radiohead.

Philip Selway spoke with the Associated Press about his forthcoming solo debut album, Familial, earlier today for an interview broadcast live online via the AP Livestream channel. Selway talks to the AP about the impetus behind the solo project, his under-the-radar writing process, the source of the title, and how working with a new set of musicians on Familial, like fellow drummer Glenn Kotche, differed from working with his longtime bandmates in Radiohead. He also gives a hint of what to expect when he takes the music on the road in Japan and Europe later this summer and has kind words to say about working with Nonesuch on the album's American release.
