Ofcom acts on TalkTalk complaints

TalkTalk, the telephone and broadband spinoff of Carphone Warehouse, is on the receiving end of Ofcom's wrath

The action specifically covers Tiscali which TalkTalk bought last year. The regulator received more than 1,000 complaints from customers who had been charged for services they had cancelled up to three years previously.

One customer contacted the regulator after being chased by debt collectors. That customer paid £600 pounds to Tiscali for broadband even though she had cancelled the service back in 2006.

Customers who have overpaid are now in line for a refund and Talk Talk has a month to comply or face a fine of 10% of revenues.

Claudio Pollack, Director of Consumer Affairs at Ofcom, comments on the case
