Sega created 3D Yakuza, says Nagoshi-san

The producer of the multi-million selling Yakuza franchise has let slip that a 3D iteration of the gangster brawler was created at some point.

Writing in a blog post following a visit to the Nintendo World event over the weekend, Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi teased, “Yakuza 3D was amazing,” before stating that he’d like to offer fans a gander at the project one day.

The latest entry in the franchise – the ominously titled Yakuza: Of The End – ditches the crime-ridden underworld antics of past games, instead taking on the form of a straight-forward zombie shooter. It’s out in Japan on March 17.

Meanwhile, Yakuza 4 will be arriving on shelves in western territories in the spring, while Nagoshi himself is busy hammering away on a new PS3/360 outing by the name of Binary Domain.
