BioWare investigating reports of PS3 Mass Effect 2 file corruption

Developer BioWare has said it’s in the process of looking into reports that the PlayStation 3 version of Mass Effect 2 is corrupting save files.

Gamers have flooded the company’s official forums with claims that the sci-fi sequel freezes up, forcing players to restart their machine’s only to discover the save file has been corrupted, thus rendering it useless.

As a result, BioWare’s Jesse Houston has called for gamers to help rectify the issue, requesting the following information:

"Specifically if you can say:

1> where the crash occurred that caused the save to become corrupt (ie loading from Horrizon to the Normandy or Right after the fight with the Yahg)
2> How many levels in a row you played beforehand (Ie you played through the prologue through to Horizon in a single sitting)
3> How long you were playing concurrently beforehand (ie you had the game running for 40 hours straight without rebooting the console
"

Needless to say, if any of our readers are experiencing similar issues with their copies of Mass Effect 2, we urge you to pop over to the official BioWare forums now and get posting.
