LEGO Coffee Tables Showcases LEGO Bricks as Pixel Art


LEGO bricks naturally lend themselves to creative 8-bit'esque creations thanks to their already blocky form. This clever coffee table decoration hack showcases how you can use the bricks to create pixelized messages (and includes an open source app for generation patterns).

Quentin, a French tinkerer from the blog Toki Woki, had a vision of his coffee table adorned with a LEGO brick message. Rather than just muddle through buying lots and lots of LEGO bricks and trying to make something out of them, he put together an open source application to covert his text message into LEGO bricks. Armed with the right parts list he could then buy just the right amount of bricks to completely tile his tables.
