Enslaved sales fall short of expectations

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West sold through 460,000 copies during the third quarter ended December 31, 2010, publisher Namco Bandai announced today.

The sales figure puts the critically acclaimed adventurer below expectations, though Tekken 6 continued to pull in the punters, shifting 1,080,000 units during the same period.

Namco also reported an increase of 1.8 percent in Net sales for the quarter compared to this time last year, with the firm turning in a profit of 3,673 million yen.

As for Enslaved, the IP’s future remains cloudy at present, though Namco’s nonetheless chuffed to bits with its reception from gamers and critics alike.

Said Lee Kirton, marketing director for Namco Bandai: "It didn’t perform as well as we hoped it would, but we’re very proud of how it was received by both the media and the gamers who have experienced it.”

"I can’t discuss where we are in terms of a sequel, but we’re looking at reviews and feedback from the press and because of the gameplay and quality that Enslaved delivered, we see it as a great catalogue title going forward."
