The 3rd Birthday getting PSN release

Square Enix has revealed that handheld horror romp The 3rd Birthday will be receiving a PlayStation Network release in addition to appearing on UMD in Japan this winter.

Due out alongside the retail version on December 22, the digital release will retail for approximately ¥4,980, making it the slightly cheaper option of the two (the PSP version will set Japanese gamers back ¥6,090).

Meanwhile, the first print run of the physical release will feature a “character download card” allowing punters to grab an Aya Brea costume for use in Square’s forthcoming PSP brawler, Dissidia Duodecim 012: Final Fantasy.

The 3rd Birthday is due out in western territories in 2011, though it’s currently unknown whether or not Square plans on making it available via PSN in addition to the standard PSP release for those regions.
