World’s newest hottest chili is “hot enough to strip paint”

A British chili farmer and pub owner has created the world’s hottest chili. This Naga Viper is Gerald Fowler’s Frankenstein combination of three of the hottest chilies in the world, including the one that was previously ranked as the hottest, the Bhut Jolokia, or ghost chili – which it trumped by no less than 300,000 Scoville units.

Fowler explained his creation to the Daily Mail:

It’s painful to eat. It’s hot enough to strip paint. It numbs your tongue, then burns all the way down. It can last an hour, and you just don’t want to talk to anyone or do anything. But it’s a marvelous endorphin rush. It makes you feel great.

In case you’re wondering about the effects that a chili that hot might have on a mere mortal, check out the video below… and remember, the old guy in the video is only eating a ghost chili. The aforementioned Naga Vipers come packed with around 25% more heat. Something tells me, this is not the type of chili you would dare try setting a weird world record for most consumed in 2 mins.
