According to timeanddate.com, at a whopping 42 degrees Celsius, Cape Town is officially the hottest city on the planet right now.
That's right! It's hotter than Bangkok, Accra and Dar es Salaam. Hotter than Dubai, Riyadh and Doha!

Weathersa has put out an advisory for much of the Western Cape has received a warning of extreme heat, high discomfort values and veld fire conditions.
The latter, of which, much of the Cape metropole is aware of since a wildfire has been raging through the southern peninsula for the past three days.
Henning Grobler of the Cape Town Weather Office said that it is the hottest day on record in the Cape Town area and that new highest daytime temperature records have been set at many stations in the Cape
Cape Point recorded a high of 39.3 degrees Celsius, the airport 42.3 and Stellenbosch 42.3 as well.
Hannalee Doubell, spokesperson for Weathersa said that the weather is due to change significantly on Wednesday, as a cold front is approaching the Mother City and temperatures will drop to the mid 20s.
According to the Weathersa site the highest temperature ever recorded was 57.7 degrees Celsius in AlAziziya, Libya on 13 September 1922. The second highest, at 50 degrees Celsius, was actually in South Africa at Dunbrody in the Sunday's River Valley on 3 November. 1918.
Capetonians are advised to keep cool in any way possible (it's the perfect day for a swim!) and drink lots of water, to avoid getting dehydrated. Click here to get your seven-day forecast across South Africa.
