Killzone dev "looking at" return to portable development

Killzone developer Guerrilla Games has hinted the studio may yet cobble together another handheld title at some point in the future.

Speaking during a chinwag with Gamasutra, producer Steven ter Heide let slip that the Dutch studio is flirting with the idea of returning to portable platforms, though made it clear that Guerrilla’s efforts are for now focused firmly on PlayStation 3.

“It’s something we are looking at, but for now our focus remains on the PS3,” he commented.

“We have built up our experience, tools, and engine on that platform. But as with all Sony hardware, we will always keep an eye out and see if there is something we want to be involved with. That’s really one of the benefits of being a first-party studio, early access to all of the new toys!”

Guerrilla’s only portable effort to date is of course the PSP outing Killzone: Liberation, which released back in 2006. And, while the shooter will be making the transition to NGP at some point, Guerrilla’s handed the development reins over to another studio for the task – namely, Sony Cambridge.
