SCEE domain registrations point to new WipEout titles

Internet sleuths SystemLink have unearthed a pair of domain registrations sparking murmurs of two all-new instalments in the futuristic racing series, WipEout.

According to reports, the first domain – WipEout Trinity – popped up back in November 2010, while WipEout 2048 materialised just last week. Both entries are associated with contact details pertaining to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), and link back to the official PlayStation site.

WipEout 2048 is rumored to be a launch title for Sony’s upcoming PSP successor, the Next-Generation Portable (NGP). Trinity, meanwhile, is believed to be a new PlayStation 3 entry.

WipEout has been a staple of the PlayStation brand since its inception in the mid-90s, with early titles being developed by Pysgnosis. Sony soon snapped up the firm – later renamed SCE Studio Liverpool – thus bagging exclusive rights to the franchise.

The most recent entry in the series, WipEout HD, hit PlayStation Network back in 2008.
