Rumor: Hideo Kojima planning two game reveals for E3

Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima will apparently lift the cloth on a two projects at this year’s E3 Expo in June.

That’s according to rumors published in the latest issue of PSM3 (via PS3 Center), who teased that a fifth instalment in celebrated sneak-em-up series Metal Gear Solid may be on the cards.

"MGS maestro Hideo Kojima’s got some big announcements for E3 in June: one a quasi-logical step for an existing game, the other… well, we’d be shocked if MGS5 wasn’t on the table at some stage. Or under it. In a box."

PSM3’s mention of a “quasi-logical step” may very well refer to an expansion for MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, given Kojima-san’s penchant for churning out previous MGS games packed with extra goodies under the Substance/Subsistence moniker.

As for MGS5, Kojima Productions announced a few months back that they were looking for ‘Next Generation Metal Gear Solid Series Production Staff,’ though an official announcement has yet to be made.

Kojima-san is known to be hammering away on a number of projects, and over the past year or so we’ve heard rumblings of everything from a ‘taboo’ title to the fan-favourite Zone of the Enders 3. Quite what he has up his sleeves is anyone’s guess, though it seems an E3 reveal is definitely in the pipeline regardless whether or not it actually turns out to be MGS-related.

Earlier this year, the legendary developer spoke of his desire to develop a title where you could start playing it on your PlayStation 3, before taking the action on the go on Next Generation Portable (NGP). And surprise, surprise, it seems E3 is the venue of choice for a potential reveal.

"This dream is going to come true in the near future. And right now, I’m working on this project of the dream. I’m sorry, I can’t reveal this now. But we’d like to present what we’re doing at E3,” he said at the time.

Stay tuned.
