Affected products

Coleman® CTAC Lithium-Ion Flashlight

Product description

This recall involves three models of Coleman CTAC Lithium-Ion Flashlights. Models include CTAC20 (model 2000013874), CTAC40 (model 2000013873) and CTAC60 (model 2000013872). The flashlights are black, with "Coleman" printed in white along the handle and have the model number printed in white on the upper portion of the handle next to the light. The flashlights measure 6.5 inches in length. The lithium-ion batteries inside the Flashlights are red with the Coleman logo printed in white on the battery.

Hazard identified

The lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these flashlights in Canada.

Coleman has received one report of the flashlight battery overheating in Canada and one report of the flashlight battery overheating, catching fire and causing minor property damage in the United States. No injuries have been reported.

Number sold

Approximately 500 flashlights were sold in Canada and 2,333 flashlights were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from January 2015 to August 2015.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled flashlights and contact their municipality for instructions on how to dispose or recycle the recalled products.

For more information, consumers can contact Coleman at 800-387-6161 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, by email or online and click on "Safety Information" under the "Customer Support" tab at the bottom of the homepage and then click on "CTAC Lithium-Ion Flashlight Recall".

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
