What’s New: “51 Content Marketing Hacks” Nominated and Testimonies from “21 Types of Content We Crave” Talk

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give you an update on some things that have been happening around here recently.

Testimonials from my Recent “21 Types of Content We Crave” Talk to San Mateo B2B Bloggers Meetup Group

On April 13th, I had the privilege to speak to a small group of B2B content marketers about one of my favorite topics: “21 Types of Content We Crave. (*I ended up speaking on the night the Warriors were playing to break the Chicago Bulls record, so I was just glad to have anyone show up!!)

The group I spoke to was a Meetup group for B2B bloggers which meets in San Mateo. The group was let by Dennis Shiao who was a great host and just a great guy.

And the people who came that night were a great group to speak to. They were very engaged, had great comments and questions, and made it enjoyable to speak to. (If you’re looking for  a great B2B Meetup group for bloggers, then make sure to check out Dennis’ group!)

Here are two pictures from the event and a few testimonials I received after the event…

“Scott is a fantastic speaker. His presentations grab your attention from the very start, then keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire duration. Scott had an audience of B2B content marketers hanging on his every word. Scott’s presentation sparked so many ideas that the subsequent Q&A with audience members ran long. Being a good sport, Scott stayed until every last question was answered.”

Dennis Shiao
Director of Content Marketing, DNN

Scott is an engaging speaker and storyteller who wowed our B2B content marketing Meetup. His “Content We Crave” presentation cleverly demonstrated the 21 content types in action, and we gained pragmatic tips and ideas through a fun and memorable experience.”

Rich Schwerin, Digital Content Strategist, Silicon Valley

The title of Scott’s presentation, ‘21 Types of Content We Crave,’ was completely misleading, and that’s a good thing. For most audiences, the phrase ‘types of content’ denotes the different content assets: data sheets, white papers, infographics, news releases, etc. Currently, there are many content experts who talk about content strategy and content assets – talks that have become content cliché. Scott’s presentation, on the other hand, was about the different emotional triggersthat content should elicit and evoke – a truly brilliant and novel approach.”

Cleveland, OH, April 28, 2016 – 51 Content Marketing Hacks: Extraordinary Lessons on Creating Content That Will Help You Sell More and Gain More Customers has been nominated for the 2016 Small Business Book Awards in the category of Social Media.

The Small Business Book Awards celebrate the best business books that appeal to entrepreneurs, small business owners, CEOs, managers and their staffs. The Awards also recognize key resources supporting business book authors and the publishing industry.

The Small Business Book Awards are more than just an honor — they include a prestigious online event in which readers, fans, book lovers and the small business community show their support for authors and others in the industry. Social media sharing is encouraged, and the Awards technology platform enables book authors to network and engage online with readers and fans.

“This year we’ve changed a few things. For the first time The Small Business Book Awards are a judged competition, based on excellence. A Judging Panel will determine the winners. We still have Community Voting — the Community will choose for the ‘Community Choice’ designation of winners.” noted Anita Campbell, CEO of Small Business Trends and Founder of the Awards.

“Today’s business owners are hungry for information and insights to help them run a successful business. Also, they use books as a way to grow and develop their employees and management teams. The Small Business Book Awards are a way to acknowledge the books that small business owners and entrepreneurs appreciated over the past year,” said Ivana Taylor, Book Editor at Small Business Trends, which produces the Awards.

About the Small Business Book Awards

The Small Business Book Awards are produced by Small Business Trends, an award-winning online publication, which along with its sister sites, serves over 6,000,000 small business owners, stakeholders and entrepreneurs annually. Small Business Trends for the past six years has published weekend reviews of small business books, amassing nearly 500 independent reviews.

Testimonials for My Book

“Before writing a word for the web, read Scott Aughtmon’s new book. It will turbocharge your brain. Great book with great stories.”

I was able to get a preview copy of this book, and I loved it. This is an excellent resource for marketers or business owners that are trying to build an engaged audience over time. I love the simple use of companies employing content marketing strategies, and how any-sized business can implement simple steps to build a loyal readership.

There’s no mystery to the basic mechanics of creativity. Take one idea from one context… combine it with a different idea from another context… and poof! Presto-changeo, you’ve got a brand new idea. Creativity, accomplished. Easily said. But when it comes to actually doing the above steps in the real world, most people hit a very thick brick wall. Why? Because the *how* of creativity remains an unfathomable mystery, to most people.

And this is where Scott Aughtmon’s book really shines. He takes the wraps off the little-understood details of the process, by showing you, in simple steps anyone can understand, what to do and how to do it. He does this once… not twice… but 51 times.

That’s important, because there is an epidemic of NON-creativity in most Web and print content that’s designed to move a prospect closer to becoming a customer. To use what Scott shows you how to do, in your own content, can make a big difference in how much your customers spend and how long they stay with you.

I’m REALLY impressed by 51 Content Marketing Hacks. I will be recommending it to my private mentoring clients and even borrowing a handful of examples (with full attribution to Scott) in some of my own forthcoming books. Well worth getting, studying, using… and profiting from yourself!

Disclaimer: I received an advance review copy of this book. I was not compensated to write this review. I wrote it because I liked the book. What I wrote is pretty much the same as what I would tell anyone I know who asked me about the book.
