ANON threaten Sony over legal dispute with PS3 hackers

Fresh developments in the on-going Sony vs. GeoHot case have emerged over the weekend, as hacktivist group Anonymous launches a campaign against the electronics giant following the legal action taken against “fellow hackers” GeoHot and Graf_Chokolo.

Speaking in a self-described press release, Anonymous claims Sony has “abused the judicial system to censor information on how [Sony’s] products work,” in addition to suggesting the company has victimized their own customers for possessing and sharing information.

“In doing so you have violated the privacy of thousands. This is the information they were willing to teach the world of free. The very same information you wish to suppress for the sake of corporate greed and complete control of the users.”

As can be expected from Anonymous, their choice in words are less than polite, as they compare Sony’s legal action to that of sticking male genitalia into a hornets nest. The group also warns that Sony will “experience the full wrath of Anonymous.”

For those who are unfamiliar as to who Anonymous are, the group originated from the Internet image board known as 4chan.

They have been known to oppose all forms of censorship, by protesting at rallies in Guy Fawkes masks, and hacking various government official websites. They even gave Tom Cruise and Scientology a bit of grief some years back.
