Great Smoky Mountains Has 17.6% Drop in Visitors in June
GATLINBURG -- The Great Smoky Mountains National Park saw a drop of 238,000 visitors in June as compared to the number of visitors in June 2010, a 17.6% decline.
Gatlinburg experienced an 11.6% drop, Townsend 15.1%, and Cherokee 1.7%.
Overall, the National Park has seen a drop of 480,000 visitors so far this year.
The April 27th tornadoes and storms that hit East Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia have attributed largely to the decline in visitors to our area.
