Capcom Assures Fans That Mega Man Legends 3 Won't Be Back From The Dead

by Phil Kollar on Aug 01, 2011 at 04:05 PM

When news hit a few weeks ago that Capcom was canning its Mega Man Legends 3 project, fans were surprised, bothered, and angry. As tends to be the case when stuff like this happens these days, Internet petitions were started along with a Facebook group and many an angry forum thread. Sadly, all of this energy is of no use; Capcom has once again stepped forward to say that Legends 3 is dead...and will stay that way.

Speaking to Kotaku, Capcom's Brian Keltner gave a depressing answer for Mega Man fans:

"We are aware of the fan created Facebook page requesting that we resume development of Mega Man Legends 3. While Capcom has a built a strong relationship with its community and values their feedback, Mega Man Legends 3 development has officially ceased without plans to resume development."

Keltner also pointed fans to a blog post written by Capcom community liaison Greg Moore, in which he attempted to further explain the reasons behind the cancellation, specifically pointing to "tough realities in this industry."

Sadly, the Facebook group created to save the project by getting at least 100,000 members has only garnered just over 37,000 in the several weeks since the bad news. Maybe Capcom had solid business reasons to shut down this project after all?

Regardless, I hope you'll all join me in yet another somber rewatch of GI's Mega Man Legends Super Replay.
