Svensson: Capcom USA is ‘pushing’ for PSP Remasters series

Capcom USA has said that it’s pushing to have the likes of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd and Power Stone re-released in the west as part of the PSP Remasters series.

Chatting during a Q&A session (via Siliconera), Capcom’s Christian Svensson revealed that a lot of the decision will be down to Sony, and said he is actively talking to the platform holder in regards to getting the Remaster series localised.

“Frankly, a lot of that sits in Sony’s hands, SCEA and SCEI’s hands right now,” Svensson revealed. “I could see it happening in Japan, because SCEJ has committed to that range of product. … I continue to have conversations with SCEA on this topic.”

“… We’re pushing hard for that to happen. I think that opens the door to Power Stone … to Monster Hunter. Unfortunately there’s no movement on that front right now. Still pushing.”

Quizzed further on the topic of Monster Hunter, Svensson hinted that Capcom has some info up its sleeves in regards to the multi-million dollar selling franchise.

“We mentioned the Sony issue around the PSP to PS3 line that Sony Japan is doing. I’m still pushing very hard on that, I’d like for that to happen,” he continued.

“In the absence of that, at some point in time, we will have some additional news, which is interesting, actually.”

Sony’s PSP Remasters series has only been announced for Japan at present, with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd being the first title confirmed for the new line-up.

Trophy support won’t be included in the re-releases, though gamers will be able to enjoy the added benefit of a second analogue stick, as well as carry over progress between the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.
