UMass senior co-captain T.J. Syner of Springfield has packed his bags, and is driving down to Hershey, Pa. Tuesday night to join the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Syner's connections with the Bears was the result of participating in the off-season Washington Capitals development camp. Hershey is the top farm club for Washington.

"I got to know the coaches, and it seems like a perfect fit," said Syner, who finished his UMass career Saturday at Boston College.

"I feel a little better, this helps," Syner said of still trying to get over Saturday night's officiating-marred defeat at BC

Syner will be practicing with the Bears Wednesday morning. Hershey has home games Friday night against Adirondack, and Saturday night with Albany, and play at Albany Sunday afternoon at 4.
