Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Laboratory Assistants who set up and assist with routine laboratory tests for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease. Duties include receiving and labeling specimens such as feces, blood, urine, and sputum in the laboratory; recording on daily log; preparing and processing specimens for tests and analysis according to standardized procedures; preparing culture media, chemical reagents and sterile solutions; and staining and preparing slides for examinations.

The immediate need is for ROTATING shift. The list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill current and future rotating, part-time and full-time vacancies as they occur.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must qualify under one of the following options:
 
Option 1:  Eight (8) semester (12 quarter) units of completed college coursework in biology or chemistry.
 
OR
 
Option 2: Six (6) months of experience receiving, preparing, and processing specimens for tests and analysis in a laboratory.

Desired Qualifications

Candidates with experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Meditech are highly desired.
 
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1 or CPT-2) license is highly desired.
 
An excellent candidate understands that Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a "24/7" operation, and the incumbent can expect to work rotating, night, weekend, day swing and graveyard shifts, as well as holidays and weekends.
 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
1) Positions require working various shifts; therefore, candidates must indicate availability for all shifts to be considered. Rotating weekend and holiday coverage may be required. Shift differential may apply.

2) Incumbents are routinely exposed to dangerous chemicals and infectious materials.
