A woman who recently opened an organic doggie snacks business called Snaks 5th Avenchew has ruffled retailer Saks Fifth Avenue, causing the giant luxury chain to demand she stop using the name.

But Carrie Sarabella said she’s not ready to just give up with a tail between her legs.

“I feel that I’m entitled to use the name with at least a little bit of a fight,” she said Wednesday, when the ultimatum was set to expire. “What happens after today — I don’t know.”

Sarabella, 32, of Hoboken, N.J., started creating canine recipes to contend with allergies suffered by her therapy dog Pinero, a 6-year-old cocker spaniel.

The vitamin- and supplement-enhanced treats took off among her friends and, in March, she launched a line of healthy animal snacks .

“I didn’t think it will run into any issues because there are so many parodies out there,” she said, mentioning dog boutiques Bloomingtails and Sniffany & Co. that operate freely like other pun-themed small businesses.

But Saks & Company was not laughing at the wordplay and sent a cease-and-desist letter July 30. A spokeswoman for Loeb & Loeb, the law firm representing Saks, declined to comment.
