University of Iowa was named the No. 5 "party school" in the country by Playboy Magazine in rankings released Monday.

This year's list will mark the ninth time Playboy has published its top party school rankings. The University of Iowa's appearance on the 2014 list marks the third time the school has appeared there. UI was rated the No. 10 party school by Playboy in 2010 and No. 9 in 2009.

"Iowa City's nightlife scene remains a balmy constant, though, with most bars and clubs allowing entry to students over the age of 19," the article states. The article also identifies the Mill, the Summit and Sports Column as "regular spots" contributing to the party atmosphere, but states that late-night "house parties on the prairie are the place to be for committed Midwestern party hounds."

The Princeton Review named UI the No. 2 party school in 2014 after leading the list as No. 1 last year.

The top-ranked party school in Playboy's 2014 list is University of Pennsylvania, followed by University of Wisconsin, West Virginia University and University of Arizona.

Factors considered by Playboy's editors in determining the rankings included access to nightlife and musical events and "creativity when planning social gatherings." Also considered was data provided by the National Center for Education Statistics, the NCAA and the U.S. Economic Census.
