Silicon Valley Bank plans to hire 250 over the next three years at its two-year-old Tempe location to support the company's global operations.

The Arizona Commerce Authority and Arizona Technology Council launched TechConnect this week, a new digital publication that showcases the state's technology industry and innovation ecosystem.

The blog and e-magazine, a partnership publication by the commerce authority and tech council, will offer insights on technology trends and industry advancements, developments in the startup community and legislative policies that support the technology community.

"Arizona's vibrant community of global tech giants and early-stage innovators, top-ranked universities, leading research minds, and its creative high-skills workforce has helped the state blossom into a hub of innovation and a magnet for world-class companies," said Sandra Watson, president and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority and co-publisher of TechConnect. "TechConnect will help Arizona to share its success stories by highlighting its leaders, dynamic companies, and new ideas that are driving innovation in our state and around the globe."

Arizona is the top-ranked state in the country for entrepreneurial activity, according to the business magazine Fast Company. A good portion of that activity comes from a growing number of innovative technology startups supported by a community of more than 50 accelerators and incubators that provide technical expertise, mentoring and funding to support entrepreneurship and growth.

"We are proud to extend our strong partnership with the ACA, and the new TechConnect format helps us build upon a foundation that is firmly vested in innovation," said Steven G. Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council, and co-publisher of TechConnect. "Together, the blog and e-mag will showcase Arizona's diverse technology community, and allow us to reach thousands of new readers across Arizona and beyond."
