CU's own Professor Surden presents his latest paper on Machine Learning and the Law.

"Machine learning” refers to computer algorithms that have the ability to improve in performance over time. Outside of law, machine learning has been applied to automate tasks that were once thought to necessitate human intelligence — for example language translation and driving automobiles.

Professor Surden will introduce machine-learning in a manner accessible to students. He will also discuss automation in the context of legal tasks currently performed by attorneys, including predicting the outcomes of legal cases, finding hidden relationships in legal documents and data.

If anyone is interested in reading about this topic in advance, Prof Surden's paper is a great place to start! http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2417415

Brought to you by the Silicon Flatirons Student Group. Lunch will be provided.
