It's not just the students at Bioscience High School that rank high among peers. It's also the halls in which they walk.

BestEducationDegrees.com deemed the campus one of the most amazing in the world, ranking the site 27th out of 30 high-school campuses recognized for impressive architectural design. The website is a Columbus, Ohio-based online source for information on schools that specialize in educational degrees.

Schools around the world were included in the list, from Denmark to France to California.

The $12 million campus at Fifth and Pierce streets prepares students for medical careers.

The website points to the fossils cast into the building's concrete walls as a design that highlights the school's science focus.

The three-story building has six science labs and an external lab as well, providing flexible learning spaces. And upperclassmen benefit from curricula tailored to their specific interests, according to the website.

The school opened in the mid-2000s with fewer than 200 students and quickly took the spotlight for becoming the first Phoenix Union High School District campus to receive an "excelling" label, the highest on the state's report card.

Bioscience High School has grown to enroll more than 300 students and employ 34 staff.

It also received an A grade from the state this year.
