South Dakota hunters get in first shots at pheasants

Aberdeen News

South Dakota hunters had their first shot at pheasants this weekend and, according to state Game, Fish and Parks Conservation Officer Nick Cochran, those who put in the time got their limit.

Cochran said fewer hunters were out Sunday as opposed to Saturday, and most hunters were shooting pheasants. Saturday’s wind proved to be a challenge, Cochran said.

Some hunters were found with lead shot instead of the required steel shot, Cochran said, and there was one reported trespassing issue in northern Brown County.

“Most guys are following the rules and regulations,” he said.
