Gramercy Park Hotel is up for grabs

The Gramercy Park Hotel has hit the market in an offering likely to test the limits of what investors are willing to pay to get into the business of operating one of the city's best-known hostelries.
Real estate investors Aby Rosen and Michael Fuchs have hired brokerage firm Eastdil Secured to market the 186-room hotel.

Zaha Hadid and Norman Foster to design luxury hotels in China

Pritzker Prize-winning architects Zaha Hadid and Norman Foster are set to create two new hotels for the luxury Jumeirah Group in China.
Jumeirah Wuhan will be designed by British studio Foster and Partners. The Wuhan property will combine luxury office space with retail areas, private residences, parkland and a luxury hotel, housed in a series of contemporary skyscrapers of different heights.

Confident that cool people do come to Pittsburgh, Brubach, a former New York Times style editor, is planning to convert the historic Granite Building Downtown at Sixth Avenue and Wood Street into a 104-room boutique hotel with three bars and a brasserie-style restaurant.

Uptown House will include 40 rooms, a pool, up to three restaurants, two bars, a rooftop patio, a library, and a fitness center. It will be located in the Malt House, an 80,000 square foot space on Amsterdam Avenue between West 126th and 128th streets in New York.
New Hotel Okura luxury resort to open in metro Manila, Philippines in 2018

Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. announced it will open Hotel Okura Manila (tentative name) in 2018, a new luxury resort in the Philippines. Okura has an agreement to manage the hotel with Resort World Bayshore City, Inc., a subsidiary of Philippines-based Travelers International Hotel Group Inc.
Derelict townhouses to become luxury hotel

A derelict site in the heart of the Capital is set to be transformed into the home of an exclusive global hotel brand.
Baxter's Place at the top of Leith Walk will house a Marriott Courtyard Hotel, with an extension offering guests panoramic views of Calton Hill. The Chris Stewart Group said a £20 million project to revamp the three dilapidated adjoining Georgian townhouses into a 240-bed hotel would begin "immediately."
France's Accor invests in Mama Shelter boutique hotels

Europe's largest hotel group, Accor, said it bought a 35 percent stake in Mama Shelter to help speed up the international expansion of the French boutique hotel chain.
Founded in 2008 by the Trigano family, also behind the birth of all-inclusive holiday pioneer Club Med, Mama Shelter said it aims to open some 20 hotels worldwide over the next five years, including one in Los Angeles in February.
Sheraton to be new Emerald in Phuket luxury hotel market

Emerald Phuket Development, confident that the luxury property market on the island isn't saturated, is bringing the Sheraton brand back to the province in Thailand after a three-year hiatus.
"The Sheraton brand has one of the best distribution systems and traveler loyalty programs. It is returning to Phuket with a firm vision to take its rightful place in Phuket's competitive luxury market," Managing Director Sawit Ketroj told the Gazette.
