ROOKERY BAY RESERVE PRESENTS DIVERSE LECTURE SERIES ABOUT FLORIDA’S HISTORY

~Monthly ‘Lunch & Learn’ lecture series continues Dec. 2~

NAPLES – Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve is hosting its monthly “Lunch & Learn” lecture at noon on Dec. 2, 2014 titled, “Florida’s Dirty Dozen: Key Moments in Environmental History.”

In this talk, University of Florida environmental historian Jack Davis offers a brief survey of Florida history -- from the pre-Spanish period to the present -- through the lens of the human relationship with the natural environment. Davis maintains that humans have not been lone players in their past. Nature, too, has the capacity to shape the course of human history, and perhaps no other state outside of Florida offers a better example of nature's history-shaping power.

Advanced registration is required by clicking here. Cost is $10, including lunch, and is free for Friends of Rookery Bay members. Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center is located at 300 Tower Road off Collier Boulevard between Naples and Marco Island. For more information on the programs click here or call 239-530-5940.
