Microsoft reveals plans to deliver cloud services from Australian datacenters

Microsoft Corp. has today announced plans to deliver Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online from Australian datacenters by the end of March 2015.

Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud productivity suite, and Dynamics CRM Online, Microsoft’s business application, are to be delivered from two datacenters situated in NSW and Victoria and will follow the launch of Azure services in October.

John Case, Microsoft Office Corporate Vice President, said this marks another step in the company’s growth and service.

“Microsoft has operated in Australia for over 30 years, and during that time we’ve seen an immense amount of innovation built on top of our platform by customers and partners alike,” Mr Case said.

“Now, with local Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online services and world-class offerings from our partners, we’re taking that innovation to the next level so customers and partners can do more and achieve more with our technology, which is what counts at the end of the day.”

Microsoft says these services will offer customers faster performance, will address data residency considerations and will offer geo-redundant back-up.

Microsoft is also opening the doors for partners to join the expansion of its new Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Program. Partners will be able to own the lifecycle of customers buying Microsoft Cloud Services, which includes direct billing, provisioning management and support.

“We believe that creating the most complete cloud involves more than just technology,” Pip Marlow, Managing Director of Microsoft Australia, said.

“It requires a world class ecosystem, which includes the thousands of Australian partners that we work with every day to deliver innovative solutions.”
