Fairechild Mabli Smock AW21 Raincoat recalled due to strangulation hazard
Summary
Immediately remove the drawstring from the outerwear to eliminate the hazard.
Affected products
This recall involves the Fairechild brand Mabli Smock AW21 children’s raincoat made from 100% recycled polyester. The raincoats were sold from sizes 1/2Y (youth) to 10/12Y in three colours (slate grey, duck yellow and brown). The smock pulls over the head and has brass snaps at the neckline as well as on both sides of the coat. It has a drawstring hood and side pockets.
Issue
Drawstrings on children's upper outerwear can become caught on playground equipment, fences, or other objects and result in strangulation, or in the case of a vehicle, the child being dragged.
As of January 27, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product in Canada.
What you should do
Consumers should immediately remove the drawstring from the children’s upper outerwear to eliminate the hazard. Consumers may also return the item for a refund.
