Design Will Never Die And Neither Will I

This week was my first week at BDW. My expectations going into the program were very high. I didn’t know if I would get pushed enough or who would even be enrolled in the brand that I knew little about except it was an annex of the Atlas Institute at CU.

The reality of BDW has gone above and beyond every judgment I had for the program. Since Monday I have been pulled and pushed out of comfort zone by already doing 2 presentations (which I hate public speaking), learning git, and basically re-teaching myself the fundamentals of Illustrator, Photoshop, and In Design. Not to mention the plethora of professors and faculty I get to closely work with developing my skills as a designer.

Woo. My mind is blown. Deep breathe.

Which leads me to my first observation from this week…design changes all the time, constantly, as a whole and within you. So being a futuristic person induced me to think what will design be in the next year, decade, or even century?

Who knows it could be totally controlled by robots by then. Steve Jobs once said, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

So as long as imagination and technology are in harmony and alive, then so will I.

Till Next Time,

aa
