Club Peace & Plenty Offers A Strategic Investment Opportunity As Exuma Set To Grow.

Exuma’s iconic Club Peace & Plenty is going up for grabs and is expected to generate major sales interest, with any buyer set to be well-positioned to capitalize on an influx of “new generation” second-home buyers and a burgeoning commercial investment wave in the desirable Bahamian island chain.

Located in the heart of historic Georgetown, the principal settlement of Exuma, the hotel has been the social heart of the tranquil Great Exuma community since it first opened in 1958, drawing Hollywood celebrities, British royalty, loyal returnee vacationers and locals ever since.

The 32-room property is being marketed exclusively by Bahamas Waterfront Properties and represents a unique business opportunity at a time when Exuma, long considered a jewel in the Bahamian archipelago, is widely viewed to be on the cusp of a major growth spurt.

Overlooking the dappled turquoise of Elizabeth Harbour to the east and the protected inland waterway of Victoria Pond to the west, the pastel-hued Club Peace & Plenty includes dockage for tenders on both sides and more importantly, room for the possible future development of a strategically-situated marina, noted Bahamas Waterfront Properties’ President Colin Lightbourn.

Lightbourn said: “We’re thrilled to be marketing this historic property.  Club Peace & Plenty has been central to the lifestyle of the island for many years, and right now it has the potential to appeal to a new generation of visitors and property owners through the development of multiple profit centres on the site.  These could include the hotel rooms, restaurant, special functions, amenity services, and the launching of a marina which would tap into the Southern Bahamas Charter market.”

“Other than perhaps the Abaco Cays, Exuma is growing faster than any of the other Bahamian Out Islands over the past five years.  The Club has all the potential to be a central hub for visitors and locals alike and a launching pad for visitors who want to explore Exuma and beyond.”

Jenny Kettel, Exuma real estate agent for Bahamas Waterfront Properties, ads “For many years the historic Peace & Plenty has been the centre of activity in George Town.  Visitors and Bahamians alike gather here for dances, barbeques, buffet lunches, costume parties, fashion shows, art exhibits, crab races, or just to relax in it’s unique bar.  It should also be the yachting and sailing hub for the southern Bahamas.”

Official tourism data shows that, outside the capital Nassau, the Exuma islands experienced the largest increase in tourist arrivals of all major Bahamian islands last year, with visitor numbers jumping by 15 percent.  The hotel is located a 15 to 20 minute car ride from the nearby Exuma International Airport.  Once they have arrived, visitors can entertain themselves with boat excursions, sailing, kayaking, diving and fishing, among many other activities.

Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie revealed plans last month to enhance the airport to accommodate the impact of further investment on the island, including the addition of up to 200 new rooms at the nearby Sandals Emerald Bay Resort, evidence of significant investor confidence in the island where Club Peace & Plenty remains one of the longest established destinations.  Other critical infrastructure upgrades, including the development of a new mini-hospital which had been much in demand by local hoteliers, are near completion.
