Twelve-year-old Finn endures daily torment from the bullies at his school. But his life begins to change the day that he encounters a Labrador retriever named Marshall.

The ‘Marshall the Miracle Dog’ movie opening next weekend across the state will be shown at a local theater.

Inspired by the real-life story of Marshall, who visited Houston Schools in November, the movie will be played at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Connxtion Entertainment in Mountain Grove. As part of the event, University of Missouri Extension 4-H is hosting a social afterwards that will include information about the organization.

The Marshall movie shares the adventure of Finn, a 13-year-old boy who has become the target of bullies at his new school. Finn is feeling hopeless –– that is, until he finds Marshall being caged up by a dog-hoarder in deplorable conditions. The bond of friendship is immediate. Finn knows he must rescue Marshall, but Marshall has been abused by the other dogs and needs to see the vet right away. The race against the bullies, against the dog hoarder, and against time, is on. In the end, it is Marshall who leads everyone to a place of change, forgiveness and friendship.

Marshall the Miracle Dog received the Audience Choice Award for Best Film at the St. Louis International Film Festival. The film was also awarded “Best Family Film” at the Wild Rose Film Festival and the Belleville News Democrat hailed it as the “Best Family Film” in 2014. The Dove Foundation awarded the film “4 out of 5 Doves” and approved the film for all ages.

“This is a great chance to reiterate the meaningful messages Marshall provides and see an excellent family film,” said Janice Emery, Regional 4-H Youth Development Specialist..

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6.50 for children ages 4-11. Those three and under are free. Ten percent of ticket sales will benefit Missouri 4-H.
