The Regional Parks Department is recruiting for energetic and customer service focused individuals who enjoy the great outdoors and serving people. These positions are the frontline guest service representatives for the Park system.

The resulting eligible list will be used to fill part-time vacancies at the following parks: Prado (Chino), Cucamonga-Guasti (Ontario), Glen Helen (San Bernardino), Mojave Narrows (Victorville), and Yucaipa (Yucaipa).

Note: Applications are also being accepted for General Services Workers II for Calico Ghost Town and Moabi Regional Park , which require a separate application.

Duties include:
  • Working the front gate, promoting Park events, and taking cash
  • Maintaining Park grounds through a variety of tasks which include using power tools
  • Providing janitorial support to campgrounds, restrooms, event shade structures, and other related Park facilities
  • Monitoring Park guest activities such as fishing and special event support
  • Engaging Park guests by providing interpretive programs

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
Position Type: Positions are part-time and are scheduled for up to 38 hours per two-week pay period. Employees are required to work weekends as well as holidays. Employees receive pro-rated vacation, holiday, and sick leave based upon the total number of scheduled hours. Retirement and health benefits are not provided.
 
Physical: This position requires frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of items weighing up to 60 pounds as well as walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and climbing on uneven surfaces. Employees work outdoors year-round often under extreme weather conditions.
 
Travel/License: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance are required at the time of appointment.
 
Background Investigation: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which will include a fingerprint check (in accordance with the Department of Justice) and a check of driving records with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Minimum Requirements

Six (6) months paid experience in a customer service related industry – OR - six (6) months experience in a maintenance role where landscaping, irrigation, or custodial duties were performed.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and cash handling experience.

Selection Process

There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based upon the information provided on the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire. The most highly qualified candidates, based on the results of the evaluation, will be invited to the hiring event. Walk-in's at the hiring event will not be interviewed.
