Rancho Santa Fe Real Estate Spotlight

In This Rancho Santa Fe Real Estate Spotlight, we’ll cover everything you need to know…

If you’re looking for your dream home to buy in San Diego, you will want to consider buying property or a home for sale in the historic planned community of Rancho Santa Fe.

Known locally as “The Ranch,” Rancho Santa Fe is a census-designated community just four to six miles inland from the Pacific Ocean in San Diego County, California. Taking up an area of 6.8 square miles, this unincorporated bedroom community in San Diego is one of the highest income communities in the United States with a population of at least 1,000.

The beautiful homes in Rancho Santa Fe are settled along the picturesque roadways that wind through the town. Residents enjoy use of the RSF golf club with an 18-hole course, a tennis facility, riding club, garden club, community center, art & library guild and 50 miles of horse trails.

Check out footage from a previous wine festival held at the Rancho Santa Fe Rotary Club. The Taste of Rancho Santa Fe is a festive food and wine festival that benefits local charities. Put on entirely by volunteers, this annual event showcases the best wineries, spirit distillers, breweries and restaurants

Residents pick up their mail daily at the post office and gather in The Village, the focal point of activity in Rancho Santa Fe. The town centerpiece is “The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe”, designed by Lilian Rice, and situated on a grassy knoll at the western end of the main street.

Approximate population in Rancho Santa Fe is around 3,000.

Rancho Santa Fe is primarily residential with single-family residences situated on 1-3 acre parcels. It also includes a few shopping blocks as well as a middle and elementary school, and several restaurants.

The area was originally named Rancho San Dieguito when it was acquired under a land grant from Mexican governor Pio Pico.

For a time the land was planned for use as a forest to grow eucalyptus trees for railroad ties. After this didn’t work out, a village plan was adopted and roads and properties were planned.

Master architects skilled in Spanish and Mediterranean design styles developed the master plan for Rancho Santa Fe, situated on 6,200 acres carved from the original Rancho San Dieguito.

Homes in Rancho Santa Fe were constructed with fantastic views of the mountains, oceans, and valleys. A nonprofit, the Rancho Santa Fe Association, was formed in 1927 to ensure the “preservation, maintenance, development, and improvement of property” in accordance with the wishes of property owners and in conformance with the general community plan.

One famous resident of Rancho Santa Fe was Douglas Fairbanks. His ranch, known as Rancho Zorro, included 1200 acres, stables, two lakes and miles of trails.

This city is a high-end located in rural North San Diego County. It has a somewhat small population of 3,117 people.

What about the cost of living? The median household income is $113,132 and the median home value is $3M.

One of the highest ranked communities in the area is The Covenant.  On average, homes in the area have 4 bedrooms and 4 baths at an average of $2.5M. The hidden oasis is tucked into the rolling hills of the countryside, untouched by chaotic city life.
