The Guardian sits down with refugees stuck on Manus Island at the behest of Australian and PNG authorities. It’s been more than 1,000 days since Australia reopened its immigration detention centre on Manus Island, off the coast of mainland Papua New Guinea. Asylum seekers found to be refugees are sent to the East Lorengau transit centre, where they are permitted to move freely on the island; but none has ever been resettled in the community
