The San Bernardino County Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is recruiting for EMS Flight Nurses.  These RN's are part of the medical flight crew responsible for performing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients being transported aboard air ambulances, including care pre- and post-flight. These positions will fly as a member of a 24-hour crew which is in a constant state of readiness, donning flight suits, flight helmets, and other protective equipment. Flight requirements also include health and physical requirements, along with continuing education and certification requirements. These positions require meeting the contract company's requirements for inclusion on flights.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
1) Must possess and maintain CA RN license, and AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, PALS, & NRP certifications. 
2) Must successfully complete a paid training/educational course with the contracted air medical transport service prior to being assigned to a medical flight crew. 
3) Must obtain and maintain FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, & IS-800 certifications prior to attending training.
4) Must obtain ICEMA MICN-F accreditation within 2 weeks of hire.
5) Must complete a CAMTS-approved trauma course within 6 months of hire.
6) Must obtain and maintain CFRN, CEN, or CCRN within 12 months of hire.
7) Must fly in the aircraft/helicopter while performing required nursing duties. 
8) Must wear flight suit, flight helmet, and other personal protective equipment while performing nursing duties. 
9) Must maintain a "duty weight" (body weight plus uniform/equipment of less than 210 lbs., not including helmet) and per contracted company flight safety requirements. 
10) All positions are 24-hour shifts.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:  Three (3) years of emergency/critical care RN experience, such as that acquired working with an air medical transport service, critical care ground transport service, pre-hospital care system, emergency room,  PICU, NICU, or ICU.
     --AND--
Education:
Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
     --AND--
License: 
Must possess a current valid (unrestricted) California Registered Nurse license.
     --AND--
Certifications:  
Must possess current AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, & NRP certifications, as well as PALS, APLS or ENA (pediatric) certification; MICN certification and experience is desired.
