The Information Services Department is looking for motivated Software Developers to design and develop advanced enterprise systems using the latest technology available. Software Developers provide production support and are experts in systems analysis, automated systems design, data base design, and applications programming, and are the primary resource for evaluating and applying new technological developments to assigned projects.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
 
Availability:  Incumbents may occasionally work evening and weekend hours.  Some overtime, on-call, or call back work may be required.

Minimum Requirements

ALL POSITIONS:

Education:  Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college level courses in programming, computer science, or software engineering.  A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.

Note: One (1) additional year of qualifying work experience may substitute for thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of the education requirement. 

---AND---
 
Experience: Work experience in a production environment, within the past five (5) years, performing analysis and programming for the purpose of developing business applications, including experience with project planning.

Must have experience in all of the following:
  • C# or VB.Net
  • SSRS
  • CSS
  • SQL Server or DB2
POSITION SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
 
Software Developer I:
Two (2) years of work experience as specified above.

Software Developer II: 
Three (3) years of work experience as specified above, including at least 6 months experience as a project leader for small to medium scale projects.

Senior Software Developer:
Four (4) years of work experience as specified above, including one (1) year working as a project leader for large-scale projects.  Experience must include the use of a systems development methodology throughout the software development life cycle. 

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Understanding of all aspects of software development.
  • Experience with .Net, Web services, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, XML, AJAX, REST, and JSON.
  • Works independently or as part of a team, collaborating on solutions that improve business operations.
  • Good communication skills, ability to manage project tasks independently.
  • Ability to perform critical, abstract and analytical thinking.

Selection Process
