December 20, 2016 8:39 AM |

Fog in IndiaAs predicted by Skymet Weather, most parts of the country continued to witness fog free mornings on Tuesday as well.

However, few areas such as foothills of Himalayas or the areas which are located on the higher elevation did observe some moderate to dense fog. For instance, Agartala reported dense fog with the visibility of 100 meters, followed by Amritsar and Gorakhpur at 500 meters.

Down south, Bangalore too observed dense fog at 7 am on Tuesday, a highly unusual feature for the city. The visibility due to dense fog in Bangalore had come down to 50 meters.

Palam Observatory in Delhi also reported moderate fog with visibility of 400 meters but again it was purely due to localized factors. In wake of this, 5 Delhi bound flights were cancelled and three were delays, while 7 flights scheduled to depart from national capital were cancelled and two were delayed.

Meanwhile, rest of the places such as Allahabad, Patna, Gaya, Lucknow reported good visibility conditions today morning.

With fog continuing to abate most parts of the country, train traffic has also improved as hundreds of train that were plying hours behind the schedule have now reduced to few only. At present, 11 trains were running late.

Further, we expect similar situation to prevail in the coming days as well. With no active Western Disturbance in sight, cold northwesterly will continue to flow over Northwest and East India. these winds will not let formation of fog over the region.
